The U.S. and disabled children from a Canadian's perspective

I spent last week in the U.S. and was struck by something. This is purely anecdotal but it seemed to me that there are many more disabled children in the U.S. compared to Canada. How could this be, I asked myself, for such a wealthy society. Then it dawned on me.

We abort ours.

God bless America!

  1. As a Canadian, who also has a physical disability, I will tell you that I think that might be true. But it really depends as well. Do you mean physically as well as mentally disabled? - i.e. basically a vegetable

It scares me to think how many children aren’t born because Canadian parents just abort them without knowing anything. But maybe I should be worried about the one’s who abort because of a possible disability too!

    Amen to that!
I have been personally involved in a situation where abortion was being considered by a close family member after being told of a fetal disability.
As I was navigating through the counselling of this person, the Doctors came back after additional tests and said "whoops, we were wrong".
The only thing that delayed her decision was her strong opposition to, fetus termination.

It certainly does make you wonder.

  3. Unless you live in a handicapped designated city such as Windsor, you would state otherwise with the multitude of handicapped.
