There is only one number quoted when the charge is obscene profit. That is the profit number. One billion dollars, for example. That is a big number. Any business that has one billion dollars of profit must be regulated.
It is a big number. But, what if $10 billion was invested. The return is then 10%. Not too obscene. If $20 billion was invested, people are getting fired if profit is one billion.
The profit number doesn't tell the whole story.

And it will always be so from the left
ReplyDeleteIf those loons on the left want to see how fast they can bring profits under control all they have to do is put a cap on them. Investors will pull their money so fast it will make their heads spin. Then, when the company goes down the tubes, the loonies won't have to worry about excessive profits...there will be none.
ReplyDeleteOf course the opposition parties might like this because then the government can rescue the firm, with taxpayer dollars of course, and take control of the company to run it in the best socialist manner.
it becomes increasingly difficult to rescue anyone without profits to tax.
ReplyDeleteIf people think profits are obscene, they should try working for a company that's losing money.
ReplyDeletePeople getting laid off, salaries and working hours reduced, opportunities disappearing - now that's truly obscene.
